Join GovHack, an annual open government data competition held across Australia and New Zealand. This inspiring event brings together teams to innovate and create with government data, aiming to unleash our technical and creative capacities.

During this 46-hour hackathon, teams develop proof of concepts and videos that showcase the reuse of data. GovHack encourages participants to take open government data and make it more useful or engaging, fostering practical solutions and driving positive change.

Entrepreneurs, developers, designers, digital media creators, artists, storytellers, researchers, and open data enthusiasts are all welcome to join. The best teams often consist of a diverse mix of skills, encouraging collaboration and diverse perspectives.

The competition begins on Friday night with the announcement of categories. Teams delve into official data sets, seeking new ideas and innovative ways to repurpose the data. Prizes are awarded in various categories, including International, National, and Local recognition.

From innovative community apps to informative data visualizations and creative displays, participants work tirelessly throughout the weekend. By Sunday 5pm, teams must submit their team page, a three-minute video explaining their concept, and any code or source materials.

Don’t miss this transformative opportunity to be part of GovHack. Join forces with fellow innovators, tap into the potential of open government data, and leave your mark on the world.
