The 2024 World Engineering Day Hackathon invites students from around the globe to collaborate and tackle real-world problems in a fast-paced, team-based competition. This hackathon offers participants the chance to apply their engineering knowledge, develop critical thinking skills, and build lasting relationships while working on practical solutions. With prizes ranging from €1,000 to €4,000 for the top three teams, the challenge pushes students to step outside their comfort zones and gain first-hand experience in addressing global issues.
This year, the hackathon focuses on the extreme climate challenges faced by engineers today. As climate change increasingly impacts everyday life, the need for innovative solutions is more critical than ever. Engineering stands at the forefront of finding ways to mitigate these disruptions and promote sustainable development. The event provides a platform for students to demonstrate their ability to design solutions for both local and global challenges.
Organized by the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) in collaboration with UNESCO, this annual hackathon is part of the celebration of World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development. It aims to equip the next generation of engineers with the skills and knowledge necessary to address the pressing issues of our time. Students from any university or engineering school are eligible to participate, with the registration deadline on November 12, 2023.
